Little Song Parent-Child Club (ages 15 months-3 years)

Little Song is a parent-child group designed for young children aged 15 months to their third birthday, and their parents or caregivers.
An experienced facilitator guides parents through a morning of hiking, outdoor exploration, circle time (stories, songs, and fingerplays), snack, and nature-based art and sensory activities. The program offers a wonderful way to meet other parents and build an early connection to nature. Our monthly and weekly themes are based on what we observe around us at our location in central Ames, and follow the rhythms of the seasons. Families should come dressed and prepared for being outside and getting messy, regardless of weather. We will hike to the nearby woods at an adult pace, then slow to "child pace" as we make our way to a play spot in the woods (you may want a child carrier or backpack). Once each month, we will stay onsite and explore the playscape instead of hiking. We will meet in the preschool room when the weather is too cold. Class size is best around 8 families. If we have a lot of interest, we may add a second weekly option. Fall monthly themes:

Thursday Morning 10:00-12:00 September - November 12 weekly meetings Winter Session: Thursday Morning 10:00-12:00 December - February 11 weekly meetings (No meetings over Winter Break) Spring Session: Thursday Morning 10:00-12:00 March - May 12 weekly Meetings (No meeting during Spring Break) Cost: $15 per meeting covers parents/caregivers plus their children under age three. I’m married and have two kids, one in high school and one in middle school. I am passionate about working with young children, and I've enjoyed partnering with parents to enrich their children's lives for decades. Sewing is another big part of my life, which I have made into a small reusable cloth goods business. My other hobbies include reading, hiking, table games, crafting, hosting friends, and watching shows with my family.
