POEMTREE UPDATE AUGUST 16TH, 2021: FOREST FRIDAYS IS NOW BEING OFFERED FOR AGES 5-12 (INSTEAD OF AGES 12-18).
Poemtree After School Nature Club is an outdoor program inspired by forest schools for youth ages 5-12, led by experienced outdoor educators. We offer sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays each week, with a choice of attending full-time (each week) or half-time (alternating weeks).
*****Starting Fall 2021, we are also offering the Bridge to Woods Wednesdays program--see below!*****
Transportation: Parents or caregivers are responsible for transporting their children to Prairie Flower Children's Center. We encourage making carpool arrangements together! We encourage Cyride as well, if the child is old enough.
Bridge To Woods Wednesday Program
****brand new offering****
This new program offers a peaceful way to bridge the gap between morning and afternoon programming.
As we work to make Prairie Flower more accessible for more families, “Bridge to Woods Wednesday” offers parents and guardians another way to integrate Prairie Flower into their personal schedules and their children’s lives.
Preschool children too young for Woods Wednesday can benefit from extended quiet time at Prairie Flower, while preschoolers who are old enough to be enrolled in Woods Wednesday can stay at the center during this gap time. Woods Wednesday students coming from elsewhere now also have the opportunity to come earlier.
What Goes on During Poemtree?
For both clubs, the main activity is free play in our 14-acre woods, filled with ravines, creeks, riverbanks, trails and all the joyous discoveries children can make when free to roam in the forest. But on any given day, you may find your child engaged in a variety of other activities, including:
During the winter months when days are shorter, we are at times forced indoors, where our main activities will be playing board games, cooking, making art, and other forms of crafting/ handwork (like weaving, knitting, sewing, and painting) following the impulses/interests of the children.
Give your child or pre-teen the gift of free time, space to play a chance to build creative outdoor skills with their friends in the woods!
Note: Space is limited. Once you apply, a member of Prairie Flower's enrollment team will contact you.
