Donate to Prairie Flower!

Donations of any amount greatly help us in keeping tuition rates low and teacher wages as high as possible, so that as many families as possible can experience the beauty and wonder of Prairie Flower's programming. Your donations also help fund:

  • Our nature playscape, which is the first publicly available nature playscape in Ames city limits. We have completed Phase 1 of the playscape, but have plans to add other features, like a pollinator garden, prairie plantings and more. This playscape enables us to have a dedicated outdoor classroom space in addition to the woods and prairie we visit.
  • Our gear fund, to provide free gear (snow pants, rain pants, thermals, boots, etc.) to low-income families enrolled in our programs.
  • Scholarships and a sliding fee scale, so that no child who wishes to attend but lacks funds is turned away.

As a supporter of Prairie Flower, you are critical in helping children and families strengthen connections to community and the natural world.

In-kind donations

These are non-cash donations of goods or services, given to us by individuals or businesses, and are a way to support our mission without providing funds.

Our general wish list:
  • Landscaping items for our nature playscape (rocks, tree stumps, mulch, etc)
  • Donated gift baskets and other handmade and crafted goods, to sell/auction for our Winter Faire fundraiser
  • Good condition, non-plastic toys, games, and activities for our indoor classrooms
  • Good condition rain and winter outdoor gear, and thermal tops and bottoms, that we can provide to our lower-income families, or use as a backup stash for our currently-enrolled kids. See our Preschool Supply List for details on our desired gear.

Please contact [email protected] for in-kind donations.
