Our Programs

Prairie Flower Children’s Center honors unpressured childhood as a critical time for healthy development. Prairie Flower programs provide dynamic, rhythmic and holistic learning environments experienced through the senses. Children learn through imitation, immersion in free play, creative movement and exploration of the woods along the beautiful Skunk River.

We currently offer four programs:

  • Little Song -- a parent-child playgroup for ages 14 months to 3 years

  • A Preschool & Kindergarten -- a morning preschool and mixed-age kindergarten program (called Morning Song), and an afternoon extended care program for the preschool (called River Song) offered Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3 p.m.

  • Bridge to Woods Wednesday -- a program for children 5 to 12 years old that fills the gap between when preschool ends and Poemtree Afterschool Nature Club begins. Children no longer in preschool may opt to enroll in this program for extra Prairie Flower time.

  • Poemtree Afterschool Nature Club -- an outdoor nature club for children 5 to 12 years old, offered twice per week and designed to give children free play in nature after school ends (homeschoolers welcome too!).

Wholesome & Holistic

Prairie Flower provides children with natural materials and playthings; organic, whole foods; and kind, loving relationships in which to grow and practice their interpersonal skills. We strive to make everything in the children's environment and all our behaviors worthy of their imitation.

Families involved with Prairie Flower also get to participate in many seasonal community events, celebrations and parent education programs.

Cooperative Structure

Families gather to develop community and work cooperatively to support their children's education, and each other, through the challenging and rewarding season of parenting young children.
